October 1, 2012 by Doree Lyn Nuguid in Business with 13 Comments

Any business should never run out of marketing ideas in promoting their products or services. With the various marketing tool available for promoters, any business owner must be careful in selecting the best form of advertisement for it to become very useful and effective.

Even in today’s modern era, one marketing strategy that proves to be working well in reaching out more consumers is the use of poster prints. Poster marketing could benefit any business because of its affordability and countless designs to choose from. If your company is planning to use this form of marketing, the poster printing, below are the 3 vital aspects to consider for an effective poster ad:

1.      Know your target consumers

Before you start the entire layout design for your intended poster print, know your target consumers. Conduct surveys on how you can capture your audience, their interests, needs and wants. A well-made poster design is something that would instantly attract a client’s attention to a full stop, either to look at your poster or read whatever marketing message or slogan printed on it. Keep in mind that is should imprint a lasting image in the minds of your chosen niche, increase your branding awareness campaign program or tell your consumers what you have to offer.

2.      Encourage a call-to-action move

A carefully planned poster printout must encourage a call-to-action move on the part of the recipient, your target crowd. Your poster, whatever its chosen theme or message must clearly tell the consumers the wonderful benefits they would get from availing your product or service. It should entice them either to check your on-line site, visit your shop or contact you costumer service team.

3.      Showcase creativity

Your poster printing should always showcase your company’s personal taste and uniqueness distinguishing your business from the rest of your competitors. As you conduct the first phase of your poster design, see to it that your creativity stands out. You can choose a theme that would best represent your company’s own legacy, one that adheres to excellence and professionalism in anything you do or offer to the public. Make your audience feel that sincerity even by just the outcome of your posters. Be sure that whatever marketing message you want to relay will surely reach your target clients.

Top advice:

Don’t be afraid to try new forms of marketing and infuse some personal touch in whatever you create, even to your poster designs. See to it that your designs will support the marketing motives you want your consumers to view your business. Keep in mind always that once a poster has reached the hands of your target clients, it should always encourage a call-to-action move on their part, either to take time reading it, make a purchase, or try out your new services. Never stop discovering new options that would benefit your company in the end. Strive to excel in whatever you do in the marketing arena.

LIke any form of marketing, a psoter has to appeal to your target audience AND be in a place they would see it. It’s all very good putting a poster in a major train station where thousands will see it, but pretty pointless if your target audience is house-bound or never catches a train…

Being open to new marketing techniques is good, but I don’t think you should try them all as not all suit all businesses.

There are a few things that you should make sure when you use poster as a form of advertising.

The poster should make the people look at it. We shall plenty of posters everyone. We see them and then forget them. They do have nothing on them, that shall make us remember them. So when you make a poster, make then unique, creative and interesting, and make use look at it twice.

Place posters at prominent positions, where there are more chances of people looking at them.

A moment ago I was reading an article about advertising in the decade of the ’50s and ’60s. That article remarked the importance between the text and image and the possibility of communicating a simple and effective idea. There are many factors that converge in a poster, and also many effects that they generate in the audience or consumer. The last advice is right on target. That should be the leitmotif of the whole campaign. As always, your ideas are very clear and inspiring.

Creativity is something you cannot overlook when designing posters for people will not stop to look at something that does not attract them. Better invest in a poster to get most out of it.

Thanks for writing this, posting marketing is still a great way for people to learn about a new company or product available. I see poster marketing being done more in small businesses or self run businesses(just 1 person !). Currently I’m focusing more on online presence but I’ll eventually start doing Posters to attract more clients :) .

You are correct a poster must cause the reader to action. If it does not then your poster may need to be re-done. A well done poster will catch the readers attention, keep it and cause them to react to it. I would be careful of not “over” doing it. You want a poster that is well laid out and easy to read. Connecting with your targeted audience in a creative poster is a good way to good new customers.

Graphic design options also play into the creation of the posters. Using visual tension within the layout will help to promote action by the individual to gain a sense of balance in life. Creating balance is important as well as a precise selection of colors.

I often find that the call to action is missing in posters. They can be catchy, colorful, have a great slogan and grab attention, but then they leave the people hanging. I think it’s a waste of time, money, and paper if a poster doesn’t have a clear intention and call to action.

Not only are these vital, but if you’re not considering these basic things, that’s not the greatest sign for your business as a whole. Marketing consulting isn’t the worst thing either.

Sophisticated graphic designs are nice, but I have to agree with KennyK. I believe that a poster really does need a clear intention and a specific call to action. Word of mouth works in strange ways, and you simply don’t want to have the poster that everyone is talking about (“It is so pretty!”), but no one can tell you what the product is, or tell you where to find more info about it.

Yes, the message is as important as the look. I sometimes hear companies say “No, we don’t make posters and flyers, nobody looks at them anymore”. They seem to think that online advertising and other, ‘new’, ‘modern’ ways of advertising are what works, while there”s still a lot of power in posters and other printed materials.

I am not sure though regarding how much words should be placed in a poster. posters are mostly graphic and too many words might not be read. But that information we chose not to include in a poster might make a big difference.

  13. vida_llevaresNovember 21, 2012 at 6:08 amReply

True. Even posters have to be strategic so it could generate an ROI. We couldn’t settle on making any poster or just posting it anywhere. The design, content and placement are very crucial.
