Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune. –Jim Rohn
Very true – I’ve learnt more from experience and following through with thigns than I did in formal education. Of course, formal education gave me the skills to learn and anaylse, so it’s not wasted.
Some very good quotes there, Aidan, thanks. Some I hadn’t heard before, either…

I also love the Jim Rohn quote. I have so many peers who have bachelors and masters degrees at various Universities and are making a comfortable living at a job they have to go to every day in the morning. I only stayed at University for one semester and can work whenever I want and make jut as much as they do.
As long as you’re able to think and figure out the quality of the information presented to you, the internet is as good an education as any, in my experience. I’ve learned everything I’ve needed to know for free.

I love the quote on business opportunities being like buses, there’s always another one coming. That is very true indeed. There is always a business opportunity outside there waiting to be grabbed. We only need to be willing to take risks and dive into the plunge.

Each of these phrases synthesizes a nice teaching. Some of them were made by entrepreneurs who over time became role models. Others were written by people who I don’t know, but they briefly summarize great truths. It´s interesting to read every one of them. They are small lessons for everyday life of all people who dream of making interesting things. Thanks for sharing.

The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn’t being said. – Peter F. Drucker – This is very true and something we’d do well to remember. Sometimes reading between the lines offers more insight than the actual words. Other times looking at the ‘negative space’ holds more information that seems to be there. By this I mean that what a person doesn’t want to say or won’t say is more useful than what is actually said,. The skill is in working out what that is.

As long as you’re going to be thinking anyway, think big. – Donald Trump
This quote reminded me of a quote my high school english teacher wrote on the board every day. I can not quote it word for word but to sum it up:
Build your dreams in the clouds and then build the stairway to them.
I read that quote everyday and everyday it challenged me. When I am facing a difficult business decision or personal decision, I remember that I need to dream big. Big dreams builds major business. Imagine if Sam Walton had not have dreamed big. We would not have Sam’s Cub or Wal Mart. Thank you for reminding me to keep dreaming big. My dreams are worth building a stairway to reach them.

The most valuable thing you can make is a mistake – you can’t learn anything from being perfect. – Adam Osborne
I needed this quote today. I have made a lot of mistakes today, some that were silly of me and some that I learned some valuable lessons from.
The most valuable thing I did today was make some mistakes and I learned from each mistake that I made.

“The most valuable thing you can make is a mistake – you can’t learn anything from being perfect. – Adam Osborne”
That is so very, very true! I make mistakes all of the time, and I’m good at what I do (freelancing). Sometimes my mistake cost me days, but they always result in knowledge that I can use for a lifetime.

Love the Edison and Osborne quotes, there is really no better advice than to view mistakes or set backs as chances to learn and improve.
Something like this is really motivational to have a quick read through when things aren’t quite going to plan!

Oh, I love these! Here’s my favorite:
Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming. –Richard Branson
Branson really knows a thing or two about that. He’s probably the most diversified billionaire in the world, with successful businesses in just about every sector.

The good thing about quotes is that they stick in your head and they can give us that energy and motivation we need to go on and succeed. If something goes wrong, we can look at it from different perspectives, but successful people see the good things in everything and learn from the experience to take steps forward.

Business opportunities are like buses, there’s always another one coming. –Richard Branson
I love this quote. It’s just a matter of being open to seeing the opportunities coming rather than chasing after the ones that have already left.

The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn’t being said. – Peter F. Drucker
A very very important lesson. A good communicator, listener and businessman is someone who takes clues from little movements and facial expressions. This is specially in businesses and professions requiring interaction with people. Knowing how to read people beyond what they say is a very useful tool in winning people over.

Absolute genius. I really like the quote. The only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary. – Vidal Sassoon
That goes without saying, but unfortunately there are a lot of people that think differently about this, and will try to achieve success prematurely without working for it.

You’ve put some great quotes above. I’ve already bookmarked this page into my motivational folder.
I really like the quote from Jim Rohn. I have an education in engineering, but I taught myself sales, small business management and internet marketing.
I’ve been a salesman, small biz manager and even owned my own business. Now I make money with affiliate marketing, and I’m thinking big like Trump says.

I have to say I also like the quote, about Not making friends that are comfortable to be with, but will lever you up. This is so true for my life. It’s important for your true friends to keep challenging you as well as complimenting your achievements.
