A well-planned and detailed business presentation could help you achieve a more desirable outcome from your attendees, particularly your potential investors or business partners and that is to encourage them to invest with your company or agree with your business plans at the end of the presentation. But, how do you prepare for a successful business presentation? Here are 5 steps to follow to ensure you are confidently ready for the big day, your business presentation:
1. Focus on your specific topic
When doing the entire layout of your business presentation, it would be best if you have a clear view of the specific topic you are about to discuss in front of your audience or business associates.
2. Provide the necessary materials
Presenting your business proposal takes long hours of planning, researching, conducting feasibility studies and correct sequencing of ideas that you want to relay with your target audience. Remember to arm yourself with the necessary materials like printed materials, colorful visuals and other helpful information to aid you to further explain your objectives in a clearer picture. A successful business presentation is gauge on how you were able to convince your listeners to totally agree with your business plans or mission. Make sure all handouts are given prior to the said presentation, so that your audience could get the first hand information that could guide them to comprehend with what you are talking about during the meeting.
3. Quick access for back-up copies in case of equipment or power failure
For you to have a successful outcome for your intended business presentation, you must have quick access for back-up copies at your side in cases beyond your control like technical defects or power failure where your projector cannot function, thus, cutting short the scheduled meeting. Give these back-up copies to all your attendees, so that they could bring them at home and study your proposals.
4. Make follow-up
Whether the entire business presentation went well or not, it would be ideal if you could spend few hours to answer some of the questions of your audience. Be confident when giving out your views and take note of important issues that you need to clarify on your next meeting. Assure your business associates or potential investors that you do further research on concerns that cannot be answered at that particular moment.
Top advice:

Any business presentation has its ups and downs. Don’t get discourage easily if by the end of your presentation, your desired outcome of approvals amongst your listeners was not met. Two thumbs up for your top advice. Every presentation AND audience is unique. It’s hard to predict the response that you might get. It’s important to present yourself in a strong, confident way and bring your story with passion. Even if response is not what you expected, you have to keep going. Don’t get discouraged. You can make adjustments over time, find new ways to bring the message across.

I would like to add loud voice and confidence. Have the materials but not being able to execute it is going to be a big let down.

I agree with Kenny and lazyor – you must present with confidence (even if you don’t feel it) in a voice that can be heard. I’d also add you need to speak slowly (it feels slow to the speaker but is often still too fast for listeners).
Ideally, be flexible enough to adjust the presenation to suit the audience rather than just follow on through with a prepared speech.

The advice given in this article are very complete. Anyway, I think there are a multitude of social and environmental factors that influence this type of presentation. The most important thing is to know, who will be led this presentation, I mean know, for example, if attendees will be end users or intermediaries will be experts or novices among other relevant aspects that can vary not only the content but the dynamics presentation of them. I am particularly agree with point # 3. It may seem a trivial point, but I have seen many presentations(academic and professional ) fail a detail like that. Today, any product that requires a presentation is extremely complex, so the traditional mistake is trying to convey all relevant information in this presentation. Big mistake. I think these tips, can be extended and adapted to another style presentations, and general guidelines that are important to consider.

Great advice! It is so important to get to know your audience and to prepare back-ups in case of technical failure. Factors like preparedness definitely add to confidence.
I personally like to add a little bit of pizzaz to my presentations. Using programs like prezi can be particularly helpful in wowing and audience and creating impact. What do you think of unconventional presentation methods? I suppose prezi is becoming mainstream, but do you think a more conservative presentation method (powerpoint?) works better than a more newfangled model?
Thanks for the insightful post!

This post is great but should emphasize more on having confidence as a business presenter. Lack of confidence in yourself, the business, or the product can only lead to a crash and burn presentation.
