I think a key to improving yourself is studying and learning – this can take many forms (from reading widely to attending seminars and webinars to undertaking formal studies).
I actively choose to spend time with people who have traits I like – and avoid those with values and morals I find offensive or unpleasant – because I believe we become like those we associate with. SO be with positive, active and ethical people and you will pick up their habits…
And I would add exercise to the list – it gives health and mental benefits plus opens you to other stimuli and opportunities for observing, learning and creating.

If I really want to improve myself, I’d have a long list to do. But yeah, these things should be on top.

Excellent List! Absolutely wonderful. I really enjoyed reading it and there is always so many things one can do to improve oneself but I sincerely feel you chose the most important and relevant.
If one just does ONE thing, I truly feel that meditation is in the lead by far. And your inclusion of yoga was great too.
Everything and anything else is secondary, no matter how important.

I like all of the ideas except for meditation. While I believe meditation is a good thing, it just doesn’t work for me. I actually feel like I’m not being productive when I’ve tried it. But that’s probably just because I’ve never gotten good at it.
For my list, I’d add “work on your productivity” and “learn to do things more effectively”. I’ve found that you can spend a whole day trying to work out a glitch on some formatting issues or some other silly detail, when instead you could have written a good article or two to share.
Working more productively means making good use of your time. Working more effectively means learning from your mistakes and making changes that are more effective.

I love to make lists! There is something so great knowing that I can check something off. But when it comes to improving yourself you can never really check anything off because you should constantly strive to be better. I guess at the end of your life you can start checking things off.
I have also found that once I have picked something I want to improve upon I need to have that idea or action posted somewhere that I can see often. That way I am always reminded of what I want to become.

I think I will try number 1 and number 3. I could stand to be a little bit more organized, and I know I need to meditate more. The problem I run into with the latter is falling asleep instead of falling into a concious trance.

The ability to identify your skills and talents and be able to become the best in them is great way to fulfill a need that most human beings want;success. I think everybody should be able to excel greatly in whatever they do and not just be an average person.

This article is incredible. I am totally a fan of self improvement at every possible level. You have to really discover and hone your talents and then follow up with meditation to put everything in perspective. At the end of the day self care IS the key.

I can’t agree more than with having a positive spirit to achieve all. When it comes to improving yourself you definitely want to make sure you have a quiet place to reflect on your skills and what you need to do to improve them. Identify your skills and make a list of them, then create a strategy around each skill.
