5 Possible Ways: Improve Your Company’s Facebook Page
More and more business owners discover the awesome benefits of social networking sites like the Facebook. In fact, Facebook is voted as one of the most popular and influential social media sites that entrepreneurs try to use as part of their online advertising campaigns to acquire enough web presence and connect with their target niche.
Other marketers think that by just creating a Facebook fan page for their business will be sufficient to entice more online visitors, but little did they know that this move needs a lot of dedication, time and passion to get the best promotional opportunities.
Below are 5 possible ways to improve your company’s Facebook fan page and get the desired traffic to your site:
1. Regularly update your posts
To encourage your followers to visit your Facebook fan page, be sure to regularly update your Facebook page with relevant posts for your clients. You can either include news about your product, services offered and upcoming events that would be of great interest to all your consumers.
2. Provide contests that your followers could join
Use your Facebook fan page to announce promotional gimmicks or contests that your clients could join. This is an effective way to encourage more online users to visit your site, once they get a link from your Facebook page about the contest. Try to make your contest accessible by creating the mechanics simple and easy to understand. For example, if you are an online shirt provider, why not announce a contest to all visitors about creating the next shirt design for your upcoming shirt release. The first 50 individuals who submitted their shirt designs will be the final candidates and from their select the best artistic design winner. The contest itself will drive more potential consumers back to your site. Remember to acknowledge fully whoever wins and give the prize to the deserving candidate.
3. Avail the wonderful use of YouTube
Another famous site that continually attracts online users is the YouTube. Linking back any of your YouTube creations with regards to your product or service to your Facebook fan page pose greater chance of gaining traffic, especially if your target clients can view and share your videos with other individuals.
4. Provide valuable reviews
Providing your viewers with relevant product or service reviews aside from your own offers would be highly appreciated because you are giving them the chance to make wise decisions. Your target consumers will surely feel that your main concern is for their satisfaction and welfare. In general, this marketing move will later create a lasting impression about your company’s overall credibility.
5. Fill-in your business page with accurate information
When you create your Facebook fan page, always fill-in the business page with accurate details such as: email address, website url, Twitter account or any additional sites you have an account with and phone number where your clients could contact you easily. Try to make this section informative and educational by providing appropriate descriptions about your type of business.
Creating a Facebook fan page for your business is a step closer to achieving your marketing goals. If you haven’t used Facebook for your company, conduct surveys from other successful entrepreneurs who have succeeded and acquired remarkable results with the creation of a Facebook fan page. Try experimenting on other marketing strategies and find out which is the most applicable for your business. Create a Facebook fan page now and see how it works.

I agree that Facebook (and over social media platforms) take time and effort to maintain – so it’s important to know which platform is most likely to engage your potential clients.
I disagree that all your prates should be about your business though – people don’t use social media to read a whole heap of ads. Yes, you mention upcoming events and new information (such as a new blog post) but it is more about initiating conversations. You can ask clients questions to learn about them, share news from your industry or that otherwise may interest your clients, show some personality (i.e. let them see the business has humans running it) and so on.
Be very careful about running competitions on Facebook, and even promoting competitions there as Facebook has strict rules about what can and can’t be done. Run a competition that breaks those rules and your page could be shut down.

Sorry – automatic spell check got past me in my comment – it should have been “I disagree that all your updates should be about your business though…”

I am not too clued up about this, however, I like it when companies engage you. Whether it is a competition, a voucher, inside information etc…just that little bit extra that ‘hooks’ you…is great, I think.

I’m inclined to agree with Tash on this one, I think that not all posts should be about your company at all.
It does help to throw in supplementary information, even posts from others in the industry.
I also find that something funny like a picture or relevant meme has a high sharable factor which can elevate your social reach.
Linx, it definitely help you feel closer to the company. That kind of contact is vital for building loyalty in my opinion.

I think including news about your industry is a great way to stay relevant to your users. Too often companies will only post about themselves or deals they are running which quickly leads to banner blindness or even them leaving the page. By including other news or recent research you will constantly be engaging your fan base.

It’s very important to engage your audience on social networks, as this article points out. I personally think that Youtube posts really excite a Facebook crowd. I always look for the next video posts from friends of mine. I have never really gotten into the contests, unless you can win a trip to your favorite destination.

Facebook is definitely a powerful tool in your marketing. However, I often see pages of companies or organizations that are basically empty, apart from a short mission statement, contact info and an outdated post.
It’s really important to keep it up to date, post relevant updates, also add some relevant YouTube videos, not just from yourself, but from anything that is relevant to your clients or visitors, videos from the same industry. Share relevant videos and news articles.

Posting regular updates and good product information are a great way to keep in touch with your fans. I see too many people over or under posting and losing their customers interest in their product.

Creating a Facebook page to along with my website is on my list of to do’s. I really appreciate the tips you have given us in your article. Adding content that is fresh on a regular basis is very important. I really did not think of offering product reviews of similar products – this is a wonderful idea! Providing reader polls could be another option if this function is available to use through Facebook!

Regularly updating the Fan page, and introducing contests are the easiest ways to improve the activity within your FB Page. Most business people do not understand that. They create the FB page, and then merely stop with that. They do no participate in the page, and never even advertise their FB page. No wonder that most of their pages fail.

I also think that it’s important as Aidan mentioned, to have additional information that is of value to your prospects if you choose to market on Facebook. Facebook followers are very loyal and if they see something that they “Like” they will gravitate towards it.
