Freelancers: What Is A Comfortable Place Of Work For You?
Freelancing career continues to influence individuals worldwide to try this online career not only for the opportunity to earn extra income, but most importantly due to the flexibility that a freelancer’s work could give to anyone who pursues this online career and that is the freedom to work anywhere they please as long as there is a reliable internet or wifi connection and a laptop or PC.
For some freelancers, anywhere is a good place to do their work, but if you are like me. I reckon a specific workplace where it is conducive for work is the best area where you can work productively without interruption or disturbance. Here are some of the places where a freelancer can choose to do his/her freelance job:
- A rented space
If you belong to a group of freelancers offering their work as a whole, then, renting a space where you can all together work daily is the most reasonable option. Although, renting a space will already incur a specific expense for each month that will already cut buck your total future earnings, working all together in one room could have a positive effect, since you have more chance to collaborate personally with your group about your work or any concerns. Just, remember to consider the location of the rented space. Get a place near to all your place of residence, probably walking distance in order to save money on fuel or travel expense.
- At home
This is the best possible alternative any freelancer may choose to avail, working from home. Doing your freelance work within the comforts of your home poses a lot of savings. First, you don’t need to worry about monthly rental expenses, aside from travelling expenses that you may incur when you decide to work outside your home. A freelance career doesn’t always promise a regular or fixed income. Second, you can have plenty of time to accept more projects, since no more time to spend in travelling, but as a freelancer, you must be well-disciplined to set a timetable when you need to finish a deadline because sometimes, working at home gives you a more relaxed environment that may tend you to put on hold whatever work that you have at the moment.
So, if you avail working at home, decide which particular area or any available space in your place that you could convert as a mini-office for your freelance work. It doesn’t need to be big, but spacious enough to accommodate your basic essentials for your freelance work like working table, PC or laptop and other equipments that will help you work more effectively. Lastly, choose a reliable internet provider within your budget. There are a lot of internet providers that offer various packages within your limit. You may go for a fixed monthly plan or a top-up would be best, if you are only a part time freelancer.
Indeed, with the quick accessibility of internet connection anywhere in any parts of the globe, more and more individuals try their luck on this online career, especially now that recession isn’t over yet. For me, converting a small spare room in our home is my ideal workplace. This kind of set-up, working at home works best for me, since, I save more money on rental space or other incurring expenses contributed working outside my place like a rented place. Freelancing career is a possible decent work from home now and poses to be the work of the future because the internet technology keeps evolving and more employers see now the positive side of outsourcing. Act now and make use of your talents or skills profitably by getting paid working from home as a freelancer. What is your ideal workplace? Feel free to contribute your views where you work effectively as a freelancer.

Right now, I prefer working at home than renting a space. I’m just starting my freelance writing job so I’m not earning that much yet. I agree that it saves a lot of money, plus I don’t have to commute to work.

I work from home – it is cheaper than renting space and committing, but ti also mens I am near my children which is one of the reasons I started my own business in the first place.
it takes a certain amount of discipline to work from home – many people get distracted by household tasks and comforts, and I know many have to fight for family and friends to take the home office seriously.
Of course, it also depends on the type of business you are in – a home office doesn’t suit all freelance work, especially if you need a lot of client meetings.

Like Tash and Angel, I’m a work-from-home freelancer. In my case, that’s because my other responsibilities are based around the home and I need to be here most of the time.
To be honest… even if I didn’t have the other responsibilities, I’d still work from home. An office is a nice way to get away from the pressures and distraction of working within arm’s reach of fresh coffee and a purring cat, especially if you have a nice view, but I’d rather be here. I’m much happier knowing I can just walk downstairs and get a hug from my lady.
Thankfully, my business – freelance writing – doesn’t require any kind of in-person contact (by design). If I had meetings to attend in person, I’d probably have to rent office space or they’d get an awful impression of me…!!

I work from home too. I don’t think it’s a viable option to rent office space but it does get lonely when you work at home all by yourself.
If I can find other freelancers, it would be fun to pool our resources together and rent an office space. But I don’t have clients that I need to meet face to face so there’s no need to rent office space and impress the clients so for me now home is the best place. At least I know that my children are taken care of and whenever I need to rest, the bed is not too far away.

Working at home is a tricky one.
Gone are the days where nice houses could all afford separate studies for the man of the house to read the paper in.
And I mean really gone.
But I’m typing this from my bedroom, where my computer sits. I could in theory move it to another room, but then it wouldn’t be here for the fun stuff!
Tolerance and a timetable are how I work my day. Right now I’ve done the first few hours, and I’m in my pre-lunch what’s happening online phase of the day.
Then lunch, then hopefully I’ll get back to work.
Maybe just a little bit of fun….

I like working at home. I live alone, so I guess there aren’t really a lot of distractions. Since what I’ve been doing lately doesn’t really require meeting anyone in person, I’m fine here.
I guess the only pitfall is it’s easy to just curl up in bed instead of focusing on work, but overall, working from home is just more convenient and cost effective.

I love working from home. I love it so much, I ensure I meet all my deadlines because I never want to have to find a more suitable workplace. I’m just a homebody and I feel the most comfortable working here. I can certainly agree with the points made against working from home, but I have learned to have the discipline necessary. And as a frugal lifestyle blogger, it really is the most inexpensive option. I’m in my pjs working on my computer as we speak.

Hey, I’m in my pjs too, nice to meet you (work is not what it used to be). I envy you, I hardly have any discipline on myself (or my cats but that’s another story)

I am really thinking about renting a desk in am=n open space as I like the freedom of being freelancer but I want to get out of my house and feel like I’m in a proper work place so I don’t get disturbed by everything at home

It really goes down to the type of work one does. If it requires lots of meetings with clients then an office would seem the better option. People often rent their homes to freelancers to use them as offices. In my opinion working from home causes too many distractions and depending of the people sometimes work can not be done.

I work alone so it is obviously that home is the best place to start with. Although there are disadvantages to work at home knowing a lot of distractions you will experienced but then, for comfortable reasons and less expense job, home is the best option.

I too know my most comfortable place is my home and living room area. It allows me to gather my thoughts and work on my own terms, as long as I don’t get too lazy. It takes a certain amount of discipline in order to do this. The first thing to start is to make sure you do things like keep environment bright and lively, so you aren’t feeling sleepy. If you are good with working with music, you can do things like play pop music or contemporary to get the work juices flowing.

I like working from home. I’m not quite as productive at home, but I’d rather work longer hours and stay at home than go to the office. Plus, if I work at home it cuts down on travel time, gas, and fighting traffic in the morning.

True. There are advantages and disadvantages of choosing any of the two options. If you work at home, it’s more cost-efficient but it’s less work-inducing. You can easily get distracted. With a rented space, you still get the work environment but you would have to spend more in transportation and rental.

I often do freelance work at home. But I also sometimes work outside in a coffee shop. My problem with working at home is that I tend to be distracted or fall asleep. But this is cheaper than going to a coffee shop. I guess I just work wherever my mood strikes me. I usually attempt working at home first and if it does not work then I go out. Setting up a home office to condition yourself into a work mode might be ideal but I haven’t really had time to do that since I usually have a regular employment and freelance work is just for extra income.
