Facebook: Is It Vital For Your Business?

Social media platforms have completely dominated the entire online marketing industry. In fact most companies, both fast growing and start-up ones have made their own online surveys on how they can effectively connect with their target consumers. Knowing specifically where your chosen niche thrives could help you come up with better online marketing techniques in reaching those target consumers in a faster mode.

Facebook is one type of social media platform that should never be underestimated. It is considered to be as powerful as other online marketing tools. Before, facebook was only viewed as a means to connect or find friends, relatives or colleagues we have lost contact with. As the whole world turns into tech savvy gadget users and digital technology keeps evolving, Facebook now plays a vital role in achieving wider coverage of online presence as billions of facebook followers use this social media platform to communicate and share their views, thoughts and ideas on almost anything that can be discussed online.

Creating a facebook page for your type of business is highly imperative in this period, if you want to perform well in the market you are situated and cope up with the ongoing trend that creative innovations demand of you. Having a facebook page to support your business gives you various opportunities for business growth, development and tremendous success in the long run when used appropriately.

Seeing the great potentials that a facebook page can give to any company, some business owners even resort to buying fans in order for their company’s profile to see movements and get the needed popularity on the web. To these companies who have bought facebook fans, they view this action as a good head start for online exposure, but, always remember that if you intend to undertake this same route or course of action that you consider the kind of fans you decide to purchase. They should be relevant to your chosen niche and their geographical location must be considered if you want to perform well.

Putting a great deal of time, effort and some creativity in coming up with an updated facebook page for your business would surely add some spice to your overall image, that in turn would stir the senses of your target consumers as they become curious to know more about your product or service. When they see that they actually get something valuable from visiting or liking your facebook page, in return they will be your word of mouth to others as they continually spread news or share some insights to anyone about your business.

If you haven’t created yet a facebook account for your business, now is the right time to make one.  Determine how you would like to present your company or business online, then, find ways on how you can communicate effectively to your valued and potential followers.  Once you have already created a facebook page, see to it that you update your page with relevant news or articles, which could be of good use to your consumers and later be the start of a conversation.

Getting involved in the community of your chosen niche takes time and a lot of hard work, but once you made your online presence known and made a lasting impression, for sure they will keep coming to your website and try to learn more about you and your business as a whole. Make facebook become a part of your online marketing strategy and enjoy its benefits for free.

Facebook has many many visitors so being not here can be really useful for getting your business known.

However, how successful it is for growing your business depends on many things, including the type of business you are in. SO it is not imperative for all businesses to be on Facebook – although I would suggest all businesses consider it for their needs.

Did you know that many businesses still do not have a website? I think that is much more important to encourage than Facebook – there are different social media platforms that may work, but all should be pointing back to the business website so no site is what need to be fixed. And your own site is your own – Facebook changes too often to trust you have control over your content.

As for judging your success by the number of fans you have, I think that is nonsense – so what if you have a million fans if none of them ever buys anything from you? Quality not quantity is what counts.

Facebook is a interesting source of marketing. Unlike traditional methods, the advert does not rely on the platform to display/sell the user in anyway, but one has to utilize social connections to leverage a customer. The sooner one figures this out, the sooner the person can gain more out of Facebook and other social marketing strategies.

Exactly Oryptic, when you look at it from that angle, you see a far greater ROI. I always buy adspace per PPC, with Facebook I get the usual views, plus the extra social reach

Facebook is a great way to market and promote your business, but you need to understand social networking for it to be effective. Facebook is primarily a place people use to stay in touch with each other, share bits of information, and play some games. If you treat is strictly as an advertising avenue, you will likely turn people off to your brand because you are “invading their space” with noise that they aren’t interested in.

Use Facebook to stay in touch with people. Accept and even encourage feedback. “Share” information with them such as special promotions or discounts that only they know about though Facebook. This will go a long way from changing people’s perception of your business as an invader in their space to a friendly entity keeping them in the loop and giving them something that others aren’t getting. You want people to feel special, not like advertising targets.

Facebook definitely has a huge potential market to offer, whether or not it is relevant or open to being marketed to? I am not so sure.

I think too many people use facebook only to keep in touch, and do not want to be bombarded with advertising. I know for sure I personally ignore my facebook adverts.

I think it is a good way, like twitter to show you are listening to your consumer, people can log in and leave comments publicly, leaving how you deal with them public to – allowing you to always come off the good guy – if done correctly!

Facebook is a tool that businesses should not over look. Facebook has the potential of getting your name out there and attracting a huge audience.

By creating a page and getting people to become a fan of the page you already took the first step in increasing your traffic or sales. It’s like getting people to enter your store. Some may not buy anything and some might. But, even if some don’t buy anything that doesn’t mean they won’t keep your brand in mind when it comes time to spend some money.

I was hesitant at first with using Facebook for business but I gave it a try and I can say that it has helped my blog grow by simply having it.

Well, I have a Facebook fan page for my business. It helps quite a bit to keep my business informed with my viewers/ clients. You have to brand your facebook page everywhere your business is. In order to get enough people to actually want to know about your FB updates. It does help your website grow over time and is a good social of interaction with your client/customers.

Just make sure you have a way to link your FB page pretty much everywhere your business/site already is!

I think it would be useful for a business but not vital. Investing more time and energy into your own website would make more sense – as it is a real asset…Facebook is only really owned by Facebook.

You will however get more eye-balls ogling you, so it would be good to have a Facebook page but I still do not think it is vital for business.

Possibly it is more important for businesses within the social media and internet marketing realm.

Nail hit on the head. Facebook is CRITICAL for businesses. It’s important to interact with consumers on their “home turf” to get feedback and generate leads.

I think Facebook would really be helpful but not exactly vital to your business. Yes, it increases market awareness but most people tend to get annoyed or just brush off advertisements on Facebook. On the other hand, it is also effective in a way that you are advertising your business to people you actually know and not just some random strangers over the internet. Personal connections are also a big part of a growing business.

No social media website should be underestimated, not only Facebook. I think if you are doing it right social media advertising can get you a lot more traffic than you think and pretty much everything else on the internet. I think having Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, Google+, etc. accounts these days is a must for online marketing. For facebook, for example, there are scripts to add on your site, where the visitors can click on it and share it on facebook (some kind of popup ad, but not really and it doesn’t get blocked by browser’s popup blocker). If, let’s say just 10% of the visitors share your link on Facebook, every one of them having an average of 300 friends and you got 1000 visitors a day, do the maths! Exactly, there are just by doing this 30 000 on Facebook that at least see your link, and that’s an automatic process to get traffic without doing nothing and goes on and on and on…So never underestimate the power of social websites if you know how to use them right.

Facebook is absolutely vital for business and is already expected from your customers. With facebook I agree that it is a huge marketing tool and I believe the use of give aways credits and sign ups really help business and bring people to your site. Facebook also has ways for you to earn money with the amount of viewers you have at your website.

  13. KennyKSeptember 7, 2012 at 1:26 amReply

I wouldn’t call it vital, it depends on what type of business you have. It’s not always necessary at all to be present on Facebook or other sites. But it never hurts to create a simple (or more advanced) page on Facebook and giving people the opportunity to find you there and interact.
If your competition is using it, why not do the same?
    But really “vital”? No.

Those phone scammers are still around, but most of these types have turned to the Internet to find victims.
